Hi I currently drive an audi A8 on an 05 plate its a facelift model but im not sure if its a D3 D4 etc im getting a rumbling/ rattling from what sounds like behind the passenger bulkhead it only lasts for about 15/20 seconds and stops I thought it was the air suspension compressor getting noisy but on recieving the repair kit it seems to tell me the compressor is in front of the spare tyre well ! Any ideas many thanks Doug

 

05 should be D3.

 

Suspension compressor is in the left hand (passenger side for right hand drive) wheel well area.

Where did you get the repair kit from?
Never heard of them and wondering if you got something else - like the emergency tyre repair kit that goes with the portable compressor stowed in the boot.

A VCDS scan will help determine what is going on.

hi im assured it is a repair kit for the air suspension it comprises of a steel piston ring a rubber o ring two securing bolts and a handful of cable ties I will be carrying out the repair on sat so I will keep you posted cheers,it sounds like its vibrating so perhaps the rubber mounts are worn ? who knows till sat

 

That's good news, would you mind sharing the part # for the kit ?

Hopefully just the rubber mounts, but I've heard of more than one compressor having the magnets separate internally.
