A8 top speed
I have been wanting to chip my 98 and 01 8s and get rid of the govenor. Does anyone know what kind of top speeds I could expect?

Is the governor set at 155mph for A8s? I've done 127 in mine on a road that was an 8 out of 10, slightly uphill with slight crosswinds. If the conditions were right I would try breaking 130mph, but its hard enough as it is to do 127mph.
A guy I know who runs an '03 S8 told me he's done 164 in his, the governors on S8s and RS6s are known to be iffy.

Hmm, interesting wheel choices. IMO, the ones in the second pic look better, mostly because they mimic the S8s 6-spoke wheels.
How much has it been lowered?

To get this post back to the original topic.... (Hijackers! HA!!) I've had mine only up to 100 as I live in VA. I don't know whether you lucky B*stards live in Montana or just have enormous Cahones and charitable Insurance companies, but I wouldn't even want to think of what the local cops would do if they caught me doing 164 let alone 127!!
I'm so JEALOUS!!

Wait, so are you from Baltimore or VA? There are plenty of rather obvious places to top 100mph on I-95 north and south of Baltimore, especially south towards DC. Ditto for VA, like on the beltway near Arlington, but you have to reaaaally know a stretch of interstate well to pull it off.
Hans.. I'm actually down in Richmond. I travel the DC/Baltimore corridor alot for work and am from MD. If you are doing 100 around the beltway.. god help you! If the Gestapo-like VA police don't get you, the idiots driving around there will. I've never seen the beltway open enough to hit 100.. HA!
