Just got a 2007 A8, had my audi mechanic check the car out completely and he didnt find a single problem with it. The car is perfect... except...

A few days ago I was driving to work and noticed a strange sound from the suspension.

Symptoms:

- Whooping sound
- Happens only when the car is cold for about the first 10 or 15 mins then goes away
- Happens only when the suspension moves 'up' for example going over a crest
- Appears to be on the right front, but definitely from the front, not the back

Can anyone give me a hand?

 

Sounds like a shock. Shocks tend to make noise when they are cold but after they warm up noises tend to go away.

Anything I can do to get rid of the noise? Its kind of annoying.

 

If you have a blown strut/shock there isn't much you can do short of replacing it.
You will be ok driving on a blown strut, it all four were blown you could see some irregular tire wear, but thats about it.
