Anyone ever run 18" rims vs. the stock 20" on an Audi A8 D4 to soften the ride?

I know people have threaten too, Lol
The first picture is factory 18" wheels from Europe, second is factory 20"
Bottom picture is my car, notice hardly any sidewall
Looks are subjective, but I think it looks more elegant and less sporty with 18"
I did some research and performance wouldn't be affected much for daily driving, except for a nice ride
Car and Driver chart shows 19" pull less G-force than 18" because the wider wheel lifts according to Car and Driver; I wish they had a 20" in there
I would also shave 30.64 pounds off the wheel set; the tires would be $400.00 cheaper
Also lower unsprung and rotational weight would also improve the ride, be easier on the suspension less vibration, less noise, less chance of aquaplaning, better wet performance, taller sidewalls would also be easier on suspension as well, like downsizing for winter
Better gas mileage and braking would be less that 2% and has more to do with tire choice than tread width
Sorry for the belated reply. My A8 looks like the top picture, similar design wheels but they are 21" and 275 35 21 Y103 tyres. Not my style, I prefer to float on a cloud.
If anyone is in the UK, I would love to swap them for the 18" ones as shown in the top picture is anyone's interested. Of course would have to be in good condition and not buckled. Might consider additional cash and 18" wheels if they need a refurb.
