Yeah, my father owns a 2001 S8. Not worth it to me. So many other cooler cars to own. It's nice and all, but not with 116k on it. His has 98k on it. Still a sharp car, but it looks dated and maintenance is always an issue.

He had to replace the timing belt recently, I was shocked at the bill for that. And some boot or something went in the transmission, which was like a 4k bill. I nearly fell over when he told me that. :eek:

I try to keep at least 8-10 ounces of Liquid Plutonium around, just for emergency repairs!

I always tell everyone on this board, if you are a budget minded type and don't know how to wrench on german cars, the A8/S8 is not the car for you.
