Default Brakes

Can anyone tell me why the rear brakes go before the front on my 04 L@ 32,000 miles? I had new pads put on all around anyway, but just curious? Will the roters be ok if I keep good pads on?

All audi's wear the rear brake pads faster than the fronts. Your lucky you got over 30k before having to replace them.
The rotors on audi's are made of a softer material than most manufatures and CONNOT be turned on a laythe, they must be replaced. In your case the A8 rotors usually wear out as fast as the pads becuase of the weight of the vehicle. I usually find the rotors below specs or warped by the time the pads need to be replaced. Another reason you should have a pretty stacked wallet to buy an A8.

Thanks buddy, I appreciatae that (I think) So I'm looking at rotors the next time I need brake pads. How do I know if I'll need them sooner?

You'll feel the brake pedal pulsing like a B****, or the brake pads will wear faster than normal, probably 10k worth of driving.

Did you have to pay for the brakes? I have an 04 too and during one of the scheduled maintenace last year at around 28k,I mentioned the noisefrom the frontbrakes. They put new pads on at no charge to me. I believe it is covered under warranty. That would have been expensive.

I just got an a8 and it's got a slight warp on the front brakes. I'd probably do the brakes myself, what do pads and rotors go for? Are there any cheap upgrades? Are aftermarket rotors OK or is OEM much better?
