Front rotors
My wheel is starting to pulsate when I press on the brakes at high speeds; my rotors needs to be turned or replaced. My question to other owners is, have you turned the rotors on this car with success? I had a vehicle in the past, Volvo S80, where turning the rotors only worked for a little while. They immediateliy started to fail again. I don't want to repeat this.
Most european cars use a softer metal on the rotors which tends to warp very quickly, audi recommends to "never" turn them on a laythe. I've done a few sets and it ends up burning thru a set of pads in less than 10k. The reason is i have to take so much off the rotors that it increases the heat applied to the pads. The D3 A8 is known for burning thru a set of front rotors every 50k.
Okay, I'll order new rotors for her. I've looked through her service records it seems as though every couple of years the brakes and rotors were changed, i can see that I'll be continuing the trend.
