Default Hey guys

Hi everyone,

I'm a proud owner of an 04 A8L 4.2, bought it in October from a dealer and up until now have had absolutely no problems. I purchased an extended warranty on it and much to my surprise, they covered replacement of a rear differential (car was humming at highway speeds) and entire front suspension. I still need to do a timing belt service (approaching 95K miles) as well as replace the brakes and rotors. Stealership quoted me $2200 for timing belt job and $941 for brakes. Does that sound normal to you guys? I think they're doing $115/hr for labor. I needed to replace my license plate bulb and bulb holder, but they wanted $170 to do that, is there anywhere I can get bulbs and holders for less than that?

Also, some douchebag in a Boston parking garage backed into me and broke my rear passenger tail light, is there anywhere I can buy a replacement cover/lens?

One more thing, I think my Nav is in need for an update, I have a 2007 Navteq disc, and I've tried just popping it in the CD changer but nothing happens, is there something special I'm supposed to do?

Thanks for any help!
Marc

Default Welcome to the forum

I would personally looke for a Euro shop close by and find out what they charge for repairs.

As for the CD, which place did you put in. The nav CD goes in the trunk on the left side the panel is removable and that is where the nav CD goes.

Awesome!! I just updated to version 2007, it had version 4 in there!!! Does the DVD player also play video DVD's by any chance?

I'll look for a nearby Euro shop, but I have an extended warranty so I'd like to go to the dealer when I can.

Thanks for your help!!!

The DVD player will only play DVD's with a modification done to the car. This is adding a video in motion piece along with wiring it for audio as well as the video. Nor does the stock radio CD player, in the glovebox or the DVD in the trunk play MP3 CD's. And the trunk DVD player is only supposed to be for your nav disk.
