Can the iPod Cable for AMI (Part Number: 4F0051510E) be installed into the 2005 A8. Audi's site says that this item is for pre-2009 models.

Any reason that this can't be done? IS the install complicated i.e. the dealer needs to do it. The dealer's initial reaction to my ? was - "not on your car."

If so, I don't understand why. If it's pre 2009, why not on a 2005?

 

I really want to know. Also, if the Audi cable doesn't work, is there an after market unit that does?

 

me all , im actually for this stuff it just last week ...

 

I stopped by the dealer and asked the same question and was told that it is NOT available for the 05. I believe that they made a conversion for the 06 or 07 (not sure) but it costs about $1000. ( so the parts guy said) So I opted for one of those crappy fm modulators and on the highway on longer trips it works ok but I don't use it much as the sound is no match for the sirius radio.
If you find an affordable solution, please let us know.
