I think I may be the only person on the planet who purchased a 2004 A8.

Why are there so many Audi forums with so little traffic? Is there a large one that I am missing?

Does anyone own one of these? Does anyone have the XM, phone system or TV installed?

 

There are about one dozen forums that I know. A8 owners tend to be less involved with the internet/forums than those with other models; maybe it's the overall demographics of the owners. A8 owners tend to be male over 40 in executive positions; most aren't surfing the web and chatting about their cars.

So far... one guy has said that the TV tuner is "asleep" in U.S spec cars. Not sure what that exactly means, though.

 

Asleep means the hardware is there\or can be enabled with minor modifications and software upgrades. I'm not sure which is the case here. I doubt many people are willing to crack open the dash and start tinkering with an $80k puzzle.

My guess? Maybe an antenna install and software update. Just finding the correct software patch and the antenna would be difficult. I don't know if they use the same version of programming for US and Euro spec cars.

I really don't care about getting the "TV" to work. The DVD would be really cool.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not gonna try and f**k with it but I would pay someone who knew how to do it or buy a component that would trigger it. Is it legal in europe to have a TV in the front seat? Is that why it's there in the first place?
