Default S8 Grill

Hello, i've got an Audi A8 D3 2003 and i'm making a facelift to 2005 model (single-grill).

Anyway, my question is... are W12 and S8 grill identic ? I mean, can i use S8 grill instead of W12 grill?

My Audi dealers sais they are different and S8 grill won't fit

Thanks.

PS. Sorry for my English..

Hello Amokk,
Helllo HSK
Yes, all the single framegrills are interchangeable. I have personally seen a S8 grill in a W12 front end and it fits perfectly.
That's a good news... thx
Btw, can you please share at what stage you are with your conversion? Are you using original Audi parts to do the conversion or theaftermarket Hofele kit?
I ordered original Audi parts for conversation, i heard the quality of hofele's parts are poor.
Ifyou are usingoriginal Audi parts then can youconfirm whether or not the headlights need to be changed? And if so, exactly what part of their shape is different?
Headlights need to be changed, as hood.. i'm not sure what part of headlights is different 'cuz i didn't saw the conversation kit yet, i ordered it these week and it will be at my dealer in 2 weeks
Please also share any pics of your conversion. I'm planning to do the same later this year and at leastanother member on the forum is also doing the same in a few weeks.
Ok, i'll share some pics whene it will be done.

Here is a comparison of the two headlights it is clear that they are physically different. If you dont change it there is no guarantee that the hood will close properly and you will have a gap between the inner, lower corner of the headlight and the new front bumper cover.

I'm sure a filler piece could be made but assuming the new hood can close properly over the old lights, for it to look seamless, it would probably have to be custom fabricated unto the new bumper cover by a body shop. Assuming the mounting holes for the lighting assembly are in the same location, the best way to figure it out is to take and old light assemply and try to fit it in a facelifted model. That way you can quickly identify all the issues and see if there are ways around them! Good luck!

Marcs A8, if you want the S8 grill, you have to have the S8 bumpber. It will not work with the regular bumpber for v8 or W12. S8 grill fits only with the S8 bumper.
