Default Yahoo! Soon to be new A8L owner on Monday

Saw the car at a local mom&pop dealer about six months ago; price has steadily dropped until it hit the right mark, so I'm trading in my minivan for this low mileage beauty.

So far this forum has been a fantastic resource for finding information, how-to's, etc. - and the pages go back forever. The car seems to be checking out on all counts, dealer is going to fix a few small things and all should be well for the near future. Don't have any ?'s right now, but I would like to hear of any humorous anecdotes or stories that owners have experienced in their D2.

I can't wait to enjoy driving again, the last fun car was a '91 Mercury Capri. It's a wonder I fit in it, at 6'5" tall I was cramped. In the A8L I can put the driver's seat all the way back, get out and go sit right behind it in the back seat - and actually have some room! Miraculous...

Congrats! I joined the forum a couple of years back when I thought I was getting an A8L (apparently banks don't like cars with more than 100k miles on it). Now that I finally have a 07 A8 I too enjoy driving again, but be sure to check every single button and don't let your enthusiasm deafen you to the that weird noise you may here coming from various parts of the car, it could be costly.

Thanks Crisis. Nope, no weird noises, clunks or other sounds; tranny is flawless, HIDs, heated seats all work (jury still out on the steering wheel, but not a deal breaker), sunroof won't retract (pinch sensor issue/needs lube?) but the shop is looking at it today. Few other minor things I can fix (seat headrests, driver lumbar not going up/down, rear sunshade) and there are a few other things I'm going to check today (radio was in safe mode, headlight washers, under belly) before signing any paperwork. Going to try to get them to fix one of the fog lights and replace a missing fog light grille.

After all the research, check-list review and consultation with my mechanic friend, I fell well-prepared. The wife got "her" car back in April; this will be "mine".

Wow; too late to post a novel but I love the car. Maybe it's the leather but it still smells new, the under carriage is so clean you could almost eat off of it - only 71K miles. Can't wait to drive into work...
