No Spare - Strategy?
My 2025 Audi Q5 comes with RFT tires. No spare at all. I have been thinking of buying a spare on-line but hate spending the $ ($300 - $500) unnecessarily. Also I see I do not have enough room in the "under trunk" because the hybrid battery takes up some space. Any comments about how to go forward without having a nervous breakdown with no spare?
Stop hyperventilating. One of the benefits of RFTs is they can take a small hole that would incapacitate a regular tire. Of course, there are some circumstances that could destroy a RFT but they are pretty rare unless you live near a scrap metal recycling facility. I drive two Chrysler Crossfires with regular Hankooks and no spares and have avoided any issues for 20 years and 80k miles between them. I have had some flats around town and on the highway in my Audis, and was able to get the tires repaired or replaced under road hazard warranty. I do keep AAA in my back pocket for an emergency tow.
