Default Sand on Engine

On Friday my Q5 was taken in to Audi service for the 15k service. Included an oil change. Today, Sunday, as I was leaving the oil indicator light came on and the car indicators show that their is no oil in the car! When we opened the hood of the car the engine was covered in SAND!

Any ideas how I could have an oil change on Friday and then be out of oil on Sunday. Where would the sand come from. I've never been to a beach with the car.

Did you check the dipstick to see if there were oil in the crankcase? If not,
I think I would call Audi Roadside assistance and have it carried by flatbed to the dealer for oil check.
I had a mouse get on the top of my engine this winter (he left small deposits) but he met his match with a trap and crunchy peanut butter a day or two later. No more mouse! Could that be what brought sand up on your engine?
