Time to get new tires?
Approaching 50K on my 2010 Q5, dealer recommends new tires at a cost of $1,200. Question #1: is 50K av'g miles to replace or closer to 60K? Question #2: if I do replace what is a reasonable cost for replacing all 4? Thanks.

tires are expensive because at least 18 rims 235x60x18 and high speed rating. The original tires ...Dunlop Grand Trek Touring are lousy tires..worn out by 26k miles. I have lease with 7 months left. Great...buy 1200 worth of tires for 7 months use or wear these down to nothing and put some pos on before turning in. Safety says to buy new tires now.

My '11 Q5 came with Continental tires and they have held up well and are very quiet. I have 40,000 on them and the fronts are starting to wear. I thought the dealer rotated them during 10,000 checkups and oil changes but they didn't. I've got Nitrogen in them and never have had a problem.
My question is buy two tires or trade the car before warranty is up?

I replaced two continentals @ 50,000 and 2 @ 55,000. Running nitrogen in all four and they are still quiet as brand new. Speed rating is H103 for 115MPH. Great tires. I went with what was on the car when I bought it and they are great.
