Audi Q7 3.0 - misfiring, running rich
I have a 2008 Q7 3.0 with 47,500 miles on it.
I cannot recreate this everytime - but it occurs 50% of the time, during the first minute or two after I have started the car and started driving down the road. Not entirely on cold starts either - it will happen after I have been driving for a bit, stop and run into a store for 20 minutes - then get back in the car.
During the misfire, it feels like the engine is about to stall as I press on the accelerator - the engine light flickers - then goes away.
This has been a problem since I bought the car in Feb 08 - each time I take it in for service, I bring it up to the svc advisor and he tells me they will check it out - he will tell me that they put some special fuel injector-like fluid in which should cure it. It runs fine for a few weeks and then starts to happen again.
I have recently noticed that it's running rich - the inside of my tail pipes are solid black - covered in soot.
Any suggestions? I am not very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff - but I am concerned because I am 2,500 miles away from my warranty expiring. It's in for the 45K service right now - this is the last service in the Audi Care package that I bought with the vehicle.

Hi, I have the same car, have the same problem. I am a automotive technician and I am currently battling with the dealer to resolve the issue with my Q7 07. I have problem with this car since I purchase it on March07 and they are still not able to fix the issues. They did replace the coil on the vehicle after only the check engine light stayed on. We complained for three year that the car was not running correctly and never could they duplicate this issue. Problem # 2 is all Q7 have a problem with oil not getting up to the cylinders heads. There is TSB on this vehicle but Audi is not repairing vehicles for some odd reason. I am in the same boat my car is at 40K and I would like the problem fixed before my warranty ends.
