Q7 Key's battery low Voltage!! Help!!
In less than 2 years, my Q7 keys apparently have low voltage or the battery close to being dead. According to my local dealer, that is not covered under warranty and costs $50 each to replace.
I have the convenience package, but doesn't work right now due to the low battery. but I think its insulting to be charged $100 for what seems to be a defect needing a recall.
Any thoughts or advice on how to solve this without paying the high price??
thanks

Just like someone mentioned before, just pop the the battery comparment lid by popping the key open and in the slit that is left you'll see a small notch in which you can insert a small flat screw driver and gently push it open. Proceed to open it by further sliding the screw driver and gently (but sturdly) pushing up until the other two notches give out.
I have a 2008 Audi. Since I purchased in Oct 2008 this will be the 3rd time I've had to replace the battery in BOTH key fobs. Ironically, they appear to lose charge within a week after my car has been in for service.
1st time, didn't realize it. 2nd time, thought...hmmm. 3rd time, can't be a coincidence.
Thank you for valuable information about replacing it myself. And yes, the dealer charges at least $50 to replace the batteries.....albeit with used batteries from other customers fobs...hah!!
