Default 01 Quattro 5Spd?

Hi. I am looking at buying a used TT and came across one that says QUATTRO under the hood but is only a 5spd. What I am trying to figure out is if it is in fact a Quattro All Wheel Drive or a Front Wheel Drive and also whether it is the 180HP or the 225HP. It also has a single exhaust. Can anyone tell me what the best way to find out is? I can also get the VIN if that would help. Thanks in advance!

Usually, the 180hp. has one exhaust pipe. The 225hp. has two.
The easy way to find out about any car is to use a carfax report. It cost $24.00 for one month and you can run as many reports as you want. It can also tell you the real history of the vehicle that sometimes you won't get fron the dealer or the owner of the car. That is what I did when I purchased my TT.
Good luck!

Quattro means it's all wheel drive...and that's a good thing! You can also go by any Audi dealer with the VIN number and check to see if all the rountine service intervals were met. They'll have a computer record. Since maintenance was free while under warranty, the owner(s) should have sought that "free" service.

yeah, if its badged quattro, its AWD. One exhaust means 180hp.

And Duc, I don't care if Audi was paying me for the maintainance, I STILL wouldn't take my car to them. I wouldn't always count on the Audi service records. They're a bunch of dumbasses.

Guess that depends on where you live and the dealer. Here in Germany, Audi dealers are amazingly professional and Germans in particular are totally **** about quality service.

I had my car PDI'd by the local German Audi dealer and it's a 3-page checklist where they wrote in notes about each item performed! Germans pay out the butt for service so it's quality all the way.

I live in Germany, but subscribe to Sky digital cable from the UK (so I can have English speaking TV channels). On that network, there's the Audi channel. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week of Audi infomercials and Audi lifestyle and sports (DTM) dedicated programming. On the channel, they have a show dedicated to the every item on the service interval. It's amazing all they look at and all they do. Lots of little things like lubbing the door hinges and topping off all fluids while the computer is runnign diagnostics. You can trust the service outside the States anyway.

Cheers!

So....even though it is a 180HP version, it is still possible for it to be a quattro? I thought that the quatrro was only available in the 225HP version. Remember this is a 01 model year.

I also saw some that were badged with "quattro" in the grill and the rear valance. Was this not the case in the 01 model year?

I am just trying to make sure that someone just didn't switch the hood or something like that since there is a sticker under the hood that says quattro. Anything is possible!

I'm working on getting the VIN to know for sure. I heard the dealer can tell you if any maintenance was done, etc if the VIN is provided. I'm also trying to find out how to decipher the VIN. ANY IDEAS anyone??

Thanks! [&:]

The COUPE was available as a 180 with Quattro, the Roadster is 225 Quattro only. So, yes it can be a 180 and really be a Quattro.

That's what I was worried about. The one I am looking at is a 2001 ROADSTER 180HP (single exhaust) that says Quattro under the hood.

The simple question I am looking for is whether the quattro was available in the ROADSTER edition in 2001. [X(]
