01 TT Quattro- Overheating Hell
[align=left]Just looking for some help.. I have an 01 Audi TT Quattro.. The temp guage started fluctuating about 2 months ago.. Irradically.. Going from middle bar to 2nd bar to the right, then back down again.. Called Audi, said it was possibly the instrument cluster. Common problem with TT's.. Brought it in.. They said it was the water pump.. Said top hose was hot going to radiator, and bottom hose was cold.. (last I checked that's a problem) Temp should be 15 to 20 degrees lower than top hose.. Brought it to inde mechanic, replaced timing belt/water pump.. (mind you at half the price Audi quoted me).. Car is still overheating.. (heat works fine) going to be replacing thermostat, and checking for blockages.. Any additional ideas would also be appreciated..

It could be your cluster, and it could also be your coolant temp sensor. Audi used to fit a sensor in there that was known to give weird readings...later they replaced it with a "green top" sensor. It's a $25 part. www.ecstuning.com
