Smile 180 or 225 hp?

hey guys haven't been on here in a while seeing is how i don't own an audi yet, but soon that is going to change and i was hoping someone could help me answer a question for me. I am totally fixed on getting an (00-03) audi tt. I know at least that I need the quattro and a turbo but i've become perplexed as to which model I should go with to ultimately satisfy my needs. I've heard mixed reviews on whether the 180 horsepower or the 225 horsepower model is having less problems. I originally heard that the 225 was made to improve upon the 180 horse, but if so why are these two models sold in the same years together? I know that the six speed audi transmissions are a little notorious for problems (having a friend with a b5 s4) and the 225 does come with a bigger k04 versus the stock 180's k03. I love these cars, but please someone help me decide which one is for me!!! Thnx, any help is much appreciated.

they are sold at the same to give the consumer a less expensive option. It's like why sell a v6? Well if you want NA and/or really want hp, that's the option.

As far as having problems, it seems like it depends on the car. I've heard of many problems with 180's and 225's and some people have no problems at all. This is like every other car...

So what do you want? Manual, Auto? go fast or, well, go slow. I go slow. Wish i could've found a nice low mile 225 manual, however the only i could find was one for $12k with 100kmiles and it was the "automanual". So i'll probably just mod mine if i have money. If this car is going to be a fun car for you, not a "get by Daily Driver", then definitely go 225.

Oh and if you have small children or want space for 4 then buy neither!

180hp all the way!! lol. It's pretty simple: buy what you can find and afford. 'nuff said.

for the record, I can't say I've ever heard of anyone complain about anything worse than a sticky 2-3 synchro, which is easily fixed by a gear oil change, so I wouldn't let transmission options interfere with your decision making.

Don't worry, they're both equally unreliable LOL.

The B5 S4 has a completely different transmission, and all quattro TTs come with the same model transmission, the 225 just has an extra gear.

If you wanna just do bolt on modifications for more power and can afford the car, go with a 225.

I got a 180 because when I bought mine, it was more in my price range compared to the 225 with equal miles.

I wish I had a 225...

I've owned both the 180 and 225, so I think I can fairly say, 225 FTW.
