2.0L TT Tuning Question
Let me preface this post with the admission that I know very little about performance modding.
I have a 2002 1.8L 225 TT Quattro that's been rebored to 2.0L. It has a Garrett t04 dual ball bearing, and a bunch of other stuff, some of which I'll list below. It also has factory settings on its ECU. The problem is that no one has pre-set mappings for this set-up, and everyone with a 4wd dyno on the East coast i've talked with tells me I'll need to buy a standalone chip for ~$2,000 because they can't reflash the factory settings. Unitronic, however, has told me that they can do a custom tuning and reflash factory settings, but that I'd have to drive all the way to Toronto or Montreal to put it on the dyno. My question is this: Are there any good tuners closer to Boston with a 4wd dyno that can reflash audi factory settings, or should I head up to Montreal asap?
Also if anyone has had a similar problem before, I'd be interested to know how you solved it.
Some specs that make it difficult to use a pre-set mapping:
2.0L engine
T04b "Innovative" turbo w/ programmable wastegate
Forge FMIC
Polished/Ported Head
580cc Injectors
VF engineering HO fuel pump
3.5' MAF
2.75' Milltek cat-back exhaust

You can get a nice stand alone for around a $1k+ but then it will cost plenty for someone to install it and tune it on a dyno. Plus you need to change from dbw to dbc. If you dont know what im saying this my not be the method for you unless you can pay someone to handle it.
So what method did you take to go 2.0 (2L block, 83mm pistons, tdi crank) and can you be more specific what turbo you have?
Also a unitronic 630 file could atleast get your car running and can be altered via lemmingwinks to better meet your needs.

how much did it run you to have it bored out to 2.0?

just 83mm pistons will get you 1.9L add a tdi crank and you have just under 2L. You can make 2.1L with stock parts i think, but dont remember what. You can find 2.0 blocks cheap, tdi cranks not to much, its the special 83mm pistons that cost alot (the pin needs moved up a little) and of course upgraded rods. Do all this outside the car and then transplant it with the stock or another 20v head and your ready to go. But like him, tuning is a problem and also you cant rev as high. I personally rather rev out to about 8k instead of a 2-2.2L and only 6.5-7k.
Wintermute : I don't know how much it would have cost to do the reboring by itself- we purchased a 1.8L stock block, sent it to the machine shop to be rebored to 2.0L, replaced, put in arias pistons, pauter rods, totalseal piston rings, eurospec cams w/ adj. camgear. It's almost finished, but the downside to machining it is that I will have to break it in for at least 300-500 miles, probably more to be safe, to my understanding. I think it came out to 1.94 or 1.98 liter displacement with everything said and done.
cincyTT : It's a Garrett T04b (see http://www.tenagah.com.au/turbo1.htm#2) with a programmable porsche wastegate hooked up to a little manual control unit in the driving compartment. I think it's supposed to do 48lb/min and it's as large as can fit under the tiny TT hood.

I wonder whats gonna blow first, the turbo or engine.... not joking. You didnt change the crank so you have to be using 85mm pistions and have 0 space between the cylinders. When you try to push that engine, the cylinders are most likely going to BLOW. Swiss cheese block here we come.
