Default 2001 audi tt 225hp coupe turn signal issue

just got my tt about 3 months ago and its going down hill quick. the other day i went to use my turn signal and right after the switch continued to make the click sound at odd intervals even though the blinker was off. it happens every time now. can i fix this myself? im assuming its the switch in the steering column or could be the relay flasher in the dash.

also check engine light just came on. getting it diagnostic tested tommorow. funny thing is my gas mileage is at 30.XX instead of its very constant 26.xx.

75,000 miles on car

I wanted to know if while any of you left your car running idle for 20 to 30 minutes if it over heats. it was a 50 degree day and i was waiting in my car and the red temperature light came on and i saw my temp gauge pegged. the temp gauge normally stays at about a quarter during easy driving then halfway during spirited driveing and sometimes will go a lil past that if im being an *** but will cool down back to half while driving.

does anyone know what these muffled popping sounds i usually here in the rear of the car after i turn it off? might be happening when its on too, i just might not notice.

thanks for any help.

Mark

The relay is in the hazard light switch

turn signal problem = bad hazard relay

overheating while sitting still = bad electric fan (or fuse or relay)

overheating = check out the fuses above the battery. Happend to me, started to overheat cause the fan wasn't turning on or something. The fuses up there were the problem
