2001 TT Roadster 225HP - How to dispose of?
Hi All. Brand new to the forums.
I have been the delighted owner of a 2001 TT Quattro Roadster, 225hp since about 2004. I barely ever drove it obviously with only 29K miles and it was garage kept. But just due to age, there are many, many problems with it. Known issues like the digital dash display has tanked. Glove compartment latch snapped off. Door/Window glue came undone and that flap has peeled up on both doors. The exterior is still striking with minor surface scratches, (never dented or wrecked), one back rear wheel panel has the clear coat coming off and the black grill has a couple inches of black paint peeling off.
Mechanically, there is more to the story. Needs: New clutch, alternator, AC charged. Convertible top open light flashes even though it is closed. Check engine light is on and my local shop said it was a leak (not liquid) of some sort they'd have to just charge me a big chunk to diagnose even before figuring out what the actual leak was. That's the BULK of issues with it.
I thought about plunking money into it for nostalgia as it's still so beautiful but...I'm ready to move on. What do you suggest I do?
My first inclination was to drive it to a landfill. Seriously.
My Sig/Other said "no" and we KBB'd it and even in "ROUGH" condition they said a dealer might offer $1500 for it and private sale over 2K. I find that hard to believe.
Thought about listing for private sale on the usual suspects like AutoTrader but with the caveat it would need to go to a buyer who was an enthusiast looking to fix one of the first ones produced back up.
Thought about trading it but didn't want to get laughed at by the dealer and then them charge ME to haul it away.
If this were your car, how would you dispose of it? Attached a couple images for kicks. Thanks for any feedback and advice!
