Default Is 2002 TT K-Line or CAN for SKS/PIN Immobilzer retrieval

Hi guys,

I need to buy either Vag-Tacho or Vag-Commander to because I need to reporgram some new keys and refuse to pay my dealer $300 for it.

I need to know if the 2002 TT Quattro AMU is K-Line or CAN so I buy the right program, does anyone know?

One Vag-Tacho seller said it only works on up to 2001 Audi TT's to retrieve the Immobilizer SKS/PIN and Vag-Commander is the way to go, but too much conflicting info out there.

No no no, VAG-COM is a crippled program, they purposefully will NOT allow you to retrieve your Instrument Cluster / Immobilizer Secret Key (SKS) also called a PIN. All you can do is once you have your PIN is use VAG-COM to make changes to the immobilizer or add new keys and clusters, change odometer etc.

I do not want anyone to go out and buy VAG-COM and think they can add new keys to their ride, it will not work, and your dealer cannot get you the secret key/PIN anymore.

I did the reasearch. The MK1 Audi TT uses CAN for all communications between systems but is K-Line (K) out to the ODB-II port under the dash. Therefore you need a program that can talk K-Line. The MKII uses CAN between all systems in addition to CAN out to the OBD-II port.

To save everyone else the trouble of doing the research you just need to buy VAG K+CAN 1.4 Commander off Ebay, find a package that includes the CD and the cable (the cable is NOT the same as the VAG-COM cable). I paid $21 for the whole thing, I can now program new keys to work with my immobilizer, change out my instrument cluster, swap ECU's with people etc. WAY cheaper than having the Audi Dealership do it LOL

There is a full tutorial with screenshots on how to use it floating on one of the forums on the net, I'm not at home right now so I don't have the bookmark, but it requires one post on their forum before they will give you access to it, its easy to use.

Once you get your Immobilizer PIN don't do anything else with VAG K+CAN 1.4 Commander only use it to get your SKS / PIN.
