2003 Audi TT 180hp
I was wondering what the reliability of the Audi TT is like. I was looking at a 2003 TT 180hp I4 1.8L DOHC for about $10,000 from a dealer. It has 90k miles on it with a new engine installed 30k miles ago.
I will get a PPI done but wondered what the transmission, elecrtic, etc. is like on cars that have 90k+ miles and are from the early 2000s. I was considering getting a bumper to bumper 2 year warranty for $2,000 on it but would love to hear your opinions purchasing a 10 year old car. My 2001 civic is dead and I wanted something nicer but reliable.
You know what, here's the link. Might make it easier haha,

Wow, not bad at all. Have you had any electrical or suspension problems? Were a lot of parts rebuilt beforehand? I also found a 2004 with around 65k miles for $12k. Torn between getting this car or a newer 2009-2010 Civic or Mazda 6

if you want an auto that is less expensive to repair, go with an import from japan. if you want a driver's car, the tt is a great choice. i do have a couple of issues with mine. i have an air bag light and a traction control light that i don't know the cause of. Neither effect drivability, but i would like to figure out and fix. i also have an issue with the driver's door lock. hope to fix that soon too. i've already replaced brake pads, rotors and hub bearings all around, as well as both drive axles. i have also removed the cat and replaced the down pipe with an aftermarket piece off ebay that is 3" from the flange all the way to where the cat used to be. turbo seems to spool faster now, less lag. The revmax updated valve body solved all the jerky shifting issues that were present when i bought the car.
Next project will be timing belt, water pump and oil pump replacement. after that, will be shocks, struts, ball joints and swaybar bushings and end links and tierod ends.
