We have a 2003 TT with a intermitent drivers side headlight. We have changed the bulb, but the problem did not go away. Rapid turning on & off works most of the time, but not always. The dealers want to change everything in the circuit for $1500.00 because the problem is intermitent. Have read about the ballast & ignitor. Any help?

Jakej, you really want to sell that headlight don't you That would probably be a good deal though because the ballast alone is $400 and that's the first place I would start. Mine fails once in a while, usually on long trips when it's raining. I think moisture was getting past an improperly seated cover in the back. Unfortunately I think this will be a swapping game until fixed unless you're electronically inclined.

 

Yup. Its just sitting on a shelf. You likely do need a new ballast.
