Default 2008 Audit TT versus 2008 Porsche Boxster

Hi all,

I am wondering which car to get, the new 2008 Audit TT with V6 convertible or 2008 Porsche Boxster S. Both cost about same amount.
I did test both and liked the interior and comfort better in the new Audi TT a lot better than the Porsche Boxster. However when I
took the hairpin curves in San Diego, the Boxster handled better than the Audi. So its tough. Now here is another question.

My concern is over reliability. Audis have been slammed a lot on reliability and Porsche has tops in the Boxster.

Third question: as a single bachelor guy, which car would impress a beautiful lady on a date: a guy with an Audi TT convertible or
a guy with a Porsche Boxster?

Last question: which car would I be able to score the best deal on for price? I noticed that Porsche dealers cut deals on Boxsters as they
do not sell as well as their 911 Carerras. I test drove the Audi TT today and the dealer seemed ready to deal with 10k off of sticker price.

My buddy laughed at me when I suggested the new Audi TT over the Porsche Boxster. He keeps calling it a shoebox design.

I love the design!

Boxsters are totally mid-life crisis cars.

Only chicks with bright red lipstick and poofy hair should still be impressed with low end porsches. Don't bother trying to fit in with the P-car club. If yours didn't cost more than theirs, they probably don't care.

I can see a TT being bought as one too, but it's not it's prime market.

And not that it should influence your car decision, but try looking at the porsche forums...
horrible people, bad vibes, no innovation, and severely lacking on information.
TT forum... We win, hands down.

When did the TT become a xB?

Honestly, wait and get the TT in a 2.0T in a manual. I think they may come in awd in 08 also. That would give you far better possiblities than a boxter and would be far better drive in all climates

with exception to Becca here on the forum, most chicks can't tell the difference between cars. The Porsche name sticks out enough for recognition. I've told people I drive an Audi TT, and some have never heard the name uttered before. Talk about living in a hole. Say Porsche, and their eyes light up.

Get the TT, if they ask what it is, tell them its a Porsche, they wont know.

I already do it to people. I have told them all kinds of things, even made up names before. If someone asks me if its Twin Turbo'ed i just grin and go, "Yup"

Buy a fuggin' Cayman S if you want a Porsche that's more affordable than a 911. Porsche had to tune those sh*ts down so that they wouldn't keep up with 911's.

Base model Boxster=no respect really. Not much you can do to un-slug it too.

Thanks all,

Actually I knew two guys who are engineers and they both drive Audis. Go figure. One is now filthy rich and owns an estate in Malibu. He could easily buy a Porsche 911 turbo and drives an Audi A8.

I test drove the 2008 Audi TT (2.0T) with auto shifter. It was wicked fast for the low end TT. Heck, I even was able to get it up to 120 on the freeway without the sales person freaking out. So that sold me based on solid design.

New question: is the extra 8k worth it for the 3.2 V6 AWD version?

I still need to test drive the V6 AWD in manual model but Miramar Audi did not have one in stock yet for me to test drive.

How is Audi TT reliability? I know the older ones 2001-2003 had major issues. That really is my main concern.

Thanks for the heads up on Porsches and P-Car club. That stinks that they are a bunch of jerks from what you have experienced.
I liked the Cayman S but it does not have a sunroof and costs more than the Boxster. Personally I prefer the gorgeous interior of the new Audi TT. It is classier car.

Being in Malibu, I'm not surprised. 911's are ridiculously common in SoCal; I was there last week and saw so many that I didn't even flinch at the sight of one after a while.

I have no doubt the 2.0T with the aut hauls ***, the B7 A4 with the same engine and FWD ripped off the line with no wheelspin and got up to 60 faster than my stock 180 did, although it didn't seem like it.
