Default 8 psi??

I have a quick question: i bought a 2000 tt 180 qt. the previous owner said it had been chipped with a mtm tune. i am ony hitting 8 lbs of boost?, from what i read, i should be hitting around 18 lbs?. I always assumed it had been chipped since i have no rev limiter. any thoughts?.

Boost leak, bad wastegate there are alot of differnt things, are you sure the gauge is hooked up correctly. Someone else had a problems and it turned out he hooked his boost gauge into a boost line that wasnt as good as some others.

there's more than 1 boost line?. the gauge seems to be working fine, i've got vacuum at about -15, and the boost holds solid all the way through the rpm's. so no leak then right?.

Where is your gauge hooked into? How is the line itself to your guage? Also no not necessarly you wont have any boost leaks at lets say 5psi because its not enough pressure to leak out but the higher the pressure can open leaks that you never thought were ever there. Does that make sense?

The 1.8T forum on Vortex under the FAQ for 1.8t engines has a leak DIY writeup check it out.
