ABS Problem?
I have a strange, intermittent problem. I'm going to have to sound a bit ignorant to attempt to explain the problem, so here goes...
You know when your brakes lock up in the snow/rain, and you get a slight pulsating and a slight grinding sound - I assume this is when ABS kicks in and calipers compress and de-compress rapidly to regain tracking for the shortest stop possible.
Well, when I brake semi hard sometimes (or even very soft), this happens to me, but the wheels never locked up, and its not like they were about too. It seems that this happens prematurely. Then again, sometimes this does not happen at all. For example, to test it out, I was going about 70 mph today on a service road, and slammed on the brakes, and was actually impressed how well the car stopped, and the issue did not happen.
I have crossed drilled rotors from a previous owner, could this contribute to the problem? Do you need certain pads for these rotors? Also, if it helps, the brakes squeal sometimes.
TIA
