Default aftermarket air filter?

Will an aftermarket air filter such as a K&N helpthe performance and mileage on my 2001 tt 225?

Not much on the performance, maybe on the gas mileage, plus you would hear your dV a lot more if you just put a cone filter at the end of your MAF

well you can get a better throttle response and higher end pullswith an aftermarket filter. that or it's just a placebo effect [&:]

Pflo, Green filter, BMC, whatever..they're all about the same, just some louder than others

bmc is what i got in my bike made like 5 more hp at the wheels but thats on a bike car i have no idea i got a cone filter on my tt

i got the modshack ttda...its quiet even with my forge 007p.

no seriously, i think this would be ideal, it's a dryflow filter, no no maf issues.
It also has more airflow than a cone filter.

I like my tt quiet, so I went with a k and n drop in. It's ok... about the same as anything else.

BPI flow stack and AEM dryflow filter. Great for stock and up for a much larger turbo.

I just thought I would bump this to say I'm on my first full tank after K&N and notice a 2-3 mpg [average] improvement on mileage driving same route to work. Agree with Moeron7, don't notice much HP boost.
