Default Air Bag Light

THe air bag light just showed up on my '04 225. My code reader does not even see the code, let alone allow me to reset it.

Am I destined to see the dealer?

90% of the time, its coming from under the drivers seat. Mine did it once and went away the following day

Can it be reset with a code reader, or something else I should own?

That i dont know 100%. You can try by pulling the battery, but if nothing is wrong, it will go away in about a day

It could be. Like i said, it seems most of the time the airbags from the seat is what sets off the light and will go away after a short period of time.

Its a common problem. Expect it to come back in colder weather. After a while you'll need to have the air bag control module replaced @ $900 by the dealer.

Buy a vagcom. Then you know to spend $400 or $650.

I had the same thing a few months ago (model year 2002)

I ended up having to replace the passenger front airbag itself. The code was passenger side ignitor faulty or something like that.

$400 from airbagcenter.com

It's a major pain tho.

If it does end up being the module, it's $650 from ecstuning.com. Just pull the old one out and do a search on their site for the big number printed on the top of the module.
