Default air intake/BOV question

Once my car comes out of the shop, i am going to get an intake and BOV setup. I am still debating on the "shroom" filter and the VTDA, and for the BOV, i am going for forge004 or the HKS SSQV.

What's the difference between the TTDA and the VTDA? And I went to their site, and i got kinda confused for which one to get. And for the "shroom" setup, which site do I need to go to get all the parts? Since my airbox is stock, what else would I need to get?

Do your self a favor and skip the gimmicks on the VDTA/TTDA and get something that works. Go here and get the stack and filter and have somethingthat outperforms both by leaps and bounds

Also just go with the 004. It works better on the 1.8t and is $100 cheaper

Or get a SHROOM! My HKS SMF was a big hit at Rai's when I got my unitronics done...plus, according to his video, myDV seems to sound just like Cincy's BV.

don't you need a heat shield of some sort to go along with this intake?? Someone must have the HKS shroom that everyone is talking about... someone comment on that.

The temp of the air the intake takes in make no differnce on performance since the turbos heat combined with compression negates any temp differnce going in the turbo.

thanks cincy... i just read the 100 + air intake post about air filters and how great the HKS is. I still can't seem to find the red filters that everyone says exists and how good of an idea is having that duel shroom filter like I saw pics of?? More air potential to be sucked in right???

Think HKS only comes in green since it is their staple. Belive someone said they have a velocity stack in them already which is nice. The dual setup is for Skylines that go from twin to single turbo setups. This is so each maf is still used and one intake goes to the turbo. Not really needed on a stock TT turbo

It isnt anything very fancy, but for ~75 I like the looks of my trust airinx shroom that came in today. course I will have a better idea once its installed, but others certainly seem happy with theirs.

I have done lots of research into HKS filters. The filter that comes with the HKS SMF is green, and is a DRY 3 layer filter. This is the only filter I recommend from HKS, and it a very nice filter. All of the other filters from HKS, including the colored ones, are 2 layer WET filters and are not that good for daily driving, and I am not sure you even want to use a wet filter in the TT anyway.
