I want to Dynamat my trunk and was hoping someone here had already done this and could help me with the best way to remove the parts in the trunk and how much much you had to use, so i know how much to buy.

why do you need to dynamat ur trunk ur in a hatback you shouldn't have trunk rattle? i use to do it a curcuit city. that is why i love hatchbacks a nice sealed sub sounds sexi in there and you don't need nutthin crazy just a really nice box. the sound is all about the box. everyone thinks that if you spend crazy money on subs your gonna have great sound. that is def not the case. i'd hate when kid would have us install some subs like a w7 into some pos custom box they build in their back yard. and then b*tch at us cus it sounded like butt. lol. and i'm not yellin at you oottoo. i'm just saying it'd be a waste at least i think.
hahah thanks man ! No i hear you, you make good points. I was hoping someone would say something like that.. I just built the box (not a pro but i think its nice) and its to Alpine's specs, it has a good amp too.
I know its a hatch and i have the sub facing upward which will literally be right under the rear shade thing that covers the trunk.. so it should push out a lot of bass right into the cabin..
i haven't hooked it up yet so i am not sure i would need it or not, just seeing what others have done, much better to ask in the TT forum than electronics for this question

I gutted the floor of my hatch, and soon the sides, so I guess I have the uninstall part. What do you need help pulling apart?
Floor is pretty easy, its only held in place by the 4 hold downs. Pull those, and it'll all come out.
rear seat bottom you pull up at the front edge, to release it, and then you can slide that out, and seat backs are easy, just unbolt the hinges.

Once i take out the cover over the spare tire, i take out the tire and everything in there.. then I can just take out 4 plugs and pull ?
What about the sides and the actual trunk lid ?

sides i'll have to look. Think theres just tabs, that pop loose, but you don't wanna just yank them, or you'll be buying new tabs. I know thats how the rear window trim works. Steady pressure is the way to go. You'll have to feel it out to know exactly where the tabs are, and pull near them.

i hate to go against any one but. just to let you know. the sub has to face away from you. remember how i said the box makes a big difference. well have you ever wondered why when shops install subs they face them away from the front of the car. it's for two reasons. i actually forget the specifics but one is that the wood of the box makes the bass noise and two has to do with the movement of the air inside the car. the only subs that you can face toward you and you get a benifet are dual voice coil subs cus you can put mids tro them. inother words it won't be pushing just bass out of them. i hope that this helps a lil. and i'm not an expert but that is something i learned and have had to tell alot of my friends lol. they always call me to do their systems. and they always have me set it up for them. they are always amazed at the difference after i setup their systems also for you guys out there that go so where to buy your amps remember a 2 chanell amp can be used for subs and in some cases are less expensive then sub amps. and can also push more power then a sub amp. sub amps are really good for subs the your usin 1 ohm or 0 ohms you'll prob never find a 2 chanell amp that can handle those ohms. and the subs that run those ohm are usally really expensive like 500 each type thin
..yeea.. so i'm confused here. Just to clear up two things, When you say "the sub facing toward you" you do mean the sub facing strait up, not toward the front? Also the sub I have is a 2ohm dual voice coil sub powered by a 2ohm mono amp.
does that change anything ?

you have a mono amp that is a sub amp. the only thing is you have dual voice coils. if you mean when you put the two coils together it becomes a 2 ohm sub then your golden, but if each coils is 2 ohms then your not gonna be able to power you sub with the full power of the amp. and yea you shouldn't face it up or toward the driver you should face it toward the back window, on an angle toward the back window is fine too. the sound waves will bounce off the rear window. have you ever tired listen to a sub standing in front of it. it sounds like butt. cus your hearing the sub not the waves that it's making. lol if that makes sence. it's ok to have it facing up but on an angle. that is why most boxes you buy are made like that.
