They're the same company. - I was under the impression that Audi owned VW, only in the past few months have I learned that Audi owned Lambo.

Either way, whom ever owns who they're all the same company.


-I'm just trying to figure out, how the Gallardo could be better than the R8, because from what i've been reading online they're quite similar in stats.

 

VW owns Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini . Porsche is a minority shareholder in VW in a move to block the possibility of a hostile takeover, so in a way, also own all those brands. (VW is a major supplier to Porsche.)

I can't remember how exactly the breakdown is within the VW umbrella. VW owns Audi, but Audi owns Lambo, etc. There used to be a vid on youtube that flashed thru it real quick, it was cool, but I can't find it now.

dude, i've been looking for 45 minutes, I have no clue what happened to it.

 

vw own audi, audi operates independant of vw though and is still only used for technology development. audi owns lamborghini completely. the gallardo's are even made in ingolstadt. porsche is a complete independant company of vw and audi but they share technology and resources. porsche owns 20 percent of volkswagen, they bought into vw about 2 years ago when vw was in danger of being taken over because of low stock value. porsche uses vw plants to build the cayenne chassis (shared with the toureg and q7).

the lambo cost more because it is a nicer car, there are more welds in the chassis and there are even more premium materials used. when audi went out to develop the r8 the goal was to rebuild the gallardo cheaper. also a bulk of the components are still hand crafted pieces.the engine is the most important, the blocks are individually molded and cast as oppose to audis mass producing. and when fabrizio decides to make a engine he gets paid alot more the hans.

 

Have a question but does Audi have a performance plant or something like how GM has the GMperformance website that you can buy performance parts from the factory??? Like a Audimotorsports or something similar?
