Oh and are the spark plugs gapped correctly?
Are the plugs getting flooded with fuel, or maybe not getting enough fuel?

Those are questions I'd ask the shop.

If your car is misfiring there should be a check engine light.
Ask the shop what the code is from the check engine light, and get back to us.

Sounds like a MAF problem, or a boost controller problem. My MAF went one time and It just seemed to have no power at all, which is called "limp mode"

Good luck finding it. Try resetting your ECU as well.

please let met know what fixes your car. It sounds like what is happening to my 1.8t 2001 TT 225hp. I have been battling it for months. Mynearest dealer is 340 miles. I checked my plugs, ignition coil packs, timing belt, compression, motor mounts, vacume leaks, etc.

no check engine light is one, I pray for it to come on to give me something to check!

I miss my smooth and fast TT, mine is slower and rough running. I used to have to fight to keep it below 100mph and now it doesn't want to run that quick.

please keep us/me informed!

OK, i took the MAF off and drove without it. It seemed to make it better but still had the problem but not as bad.
So i have currently cleaned it by spraying electrical contact cleaner on it and i'm letting it dry before putting it back. So i will let you know how it is when i've put it back.

I have very little experience with turbo systems, but I can't help but think I/we may have some sort of valve or something causing the trouble. I thought an electrical problem woud turn my check engine light on.

rough running and a loss in power w/o a check engine light. And I have searched for vacume problems.

I just threw away money on coil packs and don't feel like throwing money at an MAF.

Love it - PS

I cleaned mine when I had the head off, no help. Let me know if it fixes your problem.

I was shopping for an all-road as a family hauler but am having 2nd thoughts.
