Default Audi TT & iPod Touch

I’ve been looking foraway to connect my iPod Nano to my TT for a while now. I’ve researched and compared many different setups from DICE, PIE, Neo, and others. The main thing that’s been holding me back is the inability of these setups (or more accurately, the inability of the TT) to display track information on the radio and cluster displays. But recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the new iPod Touch and how it could be the answer I’ve been looking for. If mounted correctly, possibly by using the Panavise mount, I should be able to view track and other information easily on the Touch’s vivid 3.5” screen. And if the iPod interface allows the Touch’s controls to remain active, then selecting songs and playlists would be a breeze, if done in a safe manor that is. So what does everybody think? Does anybody have any experience with using an iPod Touch in a TT or any other Audi? Your input will be greatly appreciated!

I know that my nano fm chip won't work with my iphone even though they share the same plug- I would check compatibility to be sure but I think that is a good solution for you- I just wish I had steering wheel controls, I really miss that feature from my old car!

Thanks. I found a list of some current iPod interfaces and other accessoriesthat are compatible with the Touch and I'm sure that new ones will be released in the near future. And I would really like steering wheel controls too...

What's wrong with a phatbox? I don't have one, and I've heard good and bad..but somehow i get the feeling that the company doesn't even exist anymore. Their website has been down for over a month now. I've got a nano myself, but I'm wondering if phatbox is easier with all the complications the TT gives an ipod.

It's not that there's anything wrong with the phatbox, it's just not the solution I'm looking for. I'd rather be able to interchange iPods and use the iTunes software than mess with proprietary cartridges and software. And like you said, the company seems to have disappeared, lol. I evenheard that they quit making the phatbox because everyone was just using the iPods in their vehicles. And I'm not sure whether or not the phatbox displays track information on the radio and cluster display, but even if it did, a 3.5" high-res display sounds a lot better to me. And if you don't care about the whole no-track-information thing, check out the DICE i-Audi-R. It seems to be one of the better iPod interfaces available and it doesn’t look like it would be any harder to setup than a phatbox. Plus, DICE Electronics hasn't disappeared (yet) which means that there is customer support and warranties, which is always nice!

I use my 5th gen ipod in my tt and it gives me zero problems.
the ipod is controllable through the headunit and the clickwheel, sound quality is excellent, and the install was so easy a caveman could do it.

Well, I can't tell any real difference between the DICE and the Peripheral interfaces, but at least I know the Peripheral one works in the TT. Now I just have to wait until I findone that officially (or even unofficially) supports the Touch. I may end up having to buy two or three and just return the ones that don’t work. So the installation was really that easy? I was hoping it wouldn't be too hard. But I do have a question... I know that the cable for the CD changer is located below the driver's side rear speaker, but how did you get to it? Do I have to remove the back seat, the side panel, or pull up any carpet?

what i did was remove the seatback (left one) then then I just pulled the side panel to the side anout 2.5-3 inches so my buddy could fit his hands in there and disconnect the changer and connect the interface cable. the little box is just chilling under the rear seat and a cable runs up to my center console cubby.

*EDIT*
I just tested my friend's Touch in my car, and it works just like my G5 IPOD!
the peripheral supports the touch!

I would use a GadgeTT or something to mount it:
