AWD can be used under any conditions without concern for drivetrain damage
or drivability problems. The difference in tire speed is allowed for
WITHIN the vehicle's drivetrain. In 4WD there is no center differential to allow for front to back speed
differences. AKA, on road, you'll scrub tires trying to turn, get bad gas milage, and put unneeded strain on the drivetrain.

in the context of what?

if you're running a big Jeep with 44's thru the mud, be happy that you have 4 wheel drive, its the best there is.

if you're driving an Audi down some wet winding road, totally clawing out of the turns, be happy you're car is AWD, its the best there is.
