I plan on doing a battery relocate. Not for that though.
I need more room up front. Plus.. I'm completely refabricating the entire rear interior myself (minus side panels)
Figured I'd throw the battery in back there too (hidden maybe)

I think im just going to go with a 15lb battery so i can shave the weight and save the effort of moving it. It will be about 1/2 the size so it will also free up space. But then again, im not into sound like you.

hey im looking to get a little extra room in the front... so any idea how to do a battery relocate with all those wires would be a real help... ive never done one before and from previous expierence with trying to do things by trial and error, it gets real expensive... so any help appreciated

I have NOT done it.

But when I do, here's what I plan on doing. For the main battery cables... get some 0g or double 0g speaker wire. make sure you get enough to run two of them from the engine compartment to the rear of the car, and then add another 5 ft for contouring. Then, get the same length... 4 pieces of 4g wire to extend the 4 cables on top of the battery to the rear.

To do it properly.. and prevent a fire, you need to get two 125Amp Inline wire fuses... andfour 80Amp inline wire fuses. the reason for these... is because you are using large gauge speaker wire. You need to get fuses for each wire that are rated at or below the capacity of that wire but no less than 80% amperage of the wire (if the wire handles 175Amp... put a 150Amp). the inline Fuse will also act as a connector or splice for these cables. You want the fuses there so that if for some reason you get more current through the wire than it can handle... the fuse will blow before the insulation melts and the wire ignites and burns down your car.

Routing: I plan on drilling a hole in the fender well on the inside and installing a 2½" grommet in the wall for the wires to go through. I will run them down behind the WW resevoir and under the side skirt.(make sure you have all the wires lace-taped together and wrapped in conduit)From there they will run the length of the side skirt and back up into the rear fender well. From here you have a few choices:
[ol][*]you can build a rack, compartment or holder in the rear area somewhere to sufficiently house the battery and feed the wires in from beneath[*]You can mount the battery behind the backseat left side trim panel underneath the CD Changer and route the cables up through there (makes it difficult to jump if it dies. But its totally concealed)[/ol]
I will most likely put mine below the CD changer behind that panel. However, I may route two terminals through and under the sideskirt for jumping purposes.

-shrugs-

hawker genesis makes good batteries and are 1/3 the size of the stock battery...NOT reccommended for audio systems as they are very small and dont produce a lot of juice

The small area under the first aid kit and the CD changer behind the panels on each side... are each big enough for two optimas without stacking them.

I removed the stock amplifier from inside the right hand one and will probably put the battery in the left hand one.
