hey russ,
you got a good looking TT. but are newer models always "better" and mechanically stable than older models? i question that since "newer" can mean all the kinks haven't been worked out.
any other thoughts on this?

I don't think theres a whole lot of difference in what you see out there, a few small changes in the body, and like you mentioned, some of the bugs have been worked out of the newer ones (for one, instrument clusters on 2000-2001 and maybe newer even, often went bad) Some people have gone thru 2 or 3 clusters. Im on my second.
Lets just hope the 2007's or later don't look anything like that shooting brake concept. That thing is hidious.

I think the easiest description of a shooting brake, would be to call it a really fancy station wagon. like so:

Heres the Audi shooting brake

Shooting brakes was developed in the Uk, as rich, sportscars owners wanted to have their sportcars, but still have enough room to take all their shooting gear along wioth them when they went game hunting... Thus, the creation of the shooting brake. A sportcar, with an 'Estate car' rear...
