Boost issues or misfire ?
Hello all,
I have an 01 TT 225 that I just purchased as a project. It's in great physical condition overall but was purchased at one of my dealerships ( wholesaler ) from a kid that didn't take care of it. Cobbled up in a sense, but easily fixed with alternative boost gauge poorly put in and a possible chip, but this kid didn't know for sure.
My issues are this. Upon acceleration or under any kind of load the car sputters between 3-4,000 rpm. And I mean shakes the car, engine light flashes, and car just seems to miss heavily. once past that 4k point the car finishes accelerating with sputter here and there. Again engine light flashes for 20 seconds or so then stays lit.
So after replacing new coils, plugs, and a 78.00 valve that was said to be needed by my mechanic, it still does it. Now heres the interesting thing. I live in WI where it's cold, very cold. I drove the car into the office the other morning when it was -20 !!! Car ran perfect, no hesitation, no engine light, and there was seafoam in the fuel tank, as I was getting desperate and thought maybe a clogged injector. Now that it's above 0, with a temp hovering around 9 above, it's back again.
I luckily have had great luck with a A-8 W12, and the exact year TT prior. Not this round.......
Also has a growling noise just noticed in the rear end, and it's not a wheel bearing, had that checked. My main issue is, there isn't a reliable mechanic shop that know's how to fix this around my area, that is a 200 mile drive to the twin cities to the local Audi dealer there. Any suggestions ?
