Bose Lock up
Here's a weird thing that happened the other day:
I was stoppedin horrible traffic in Seattle on a downward hill. I shut off my car for a minute cause we weren't moving anywhere but left the stock Bose radio on. Traffic started rolling slowly downhill so instead of restarting the car ('o2 TT 180 C) I just pushed in the clutch released the e-brake and let the car roll forward. I didn't get more than a few feet before the radio turned off automatically, or, stopped working and the backlight on the stereo face stayed lit. It didn't go into "SAFE" mode, it was just off, with the backlight on, and wouldn't respond to any buttons or swear words. Even when the car was turned back on and than later turned off it just sat there glowing red but not working. I was a little concerned that the backlight would eventually drain the battery if I left the car for a while so when I arrived at my destination I had to disconnect the negative battery lead for a second to "reset" the stereo. After that it went into normal "SAFE" mode and I punched in the code and it worked just fine.

I had the same thing happen tothe stereo in my '02 TT 225 Coupe today. This morning, I got in my car to drive to class and the stereo worked perfectly. When I got in my car to go get some lunch, the stereo was, once again, working perfectly. But when I got in my car earlier this afternoon to head to my afternoon class, the stereo did not come on. I could see that that red backlight was on, but the display was blank. It didn't even show "SAFE". So it looks like I'll have to go disconnect the battery here in a little while. If that is all it takes then I don't guess this is such a big deal, but I would like to know what caused it...
This happened to me last week. Running errands at lunch time, short runs and multiple restarts. It's easier to just pull the fuse for the radio rather than pulling the covers off to get to the battery. Have your radio code handy though.
Ok, well, let's just suppose that I have no knowledge of fuses (because I don't). I know where the fuse panel is located, but other than that, I know nothing, lol. So how do I know which fuse to pull? I better learn just in case this happens again...
