Default Bought a TT yesterday, lots broken :)

First of all, I know that this was a pretty bad decision to make. I felt like sh&# about it while I was doing it in fact. But I weighed the pros/cons and I was paying well under NADA retail so I decided to pick it up…. The issues are as follows and ANY INPUT WHATSOEVER will be helpful. I have owned a 1996 Audi A4, so I’m accustomed to some of Audi’s ways of doing things.
What I can tell is bad/wrong so far:

1. I have one key only. The lock/alarm is totally messed up. When the alarm is *armed* and the car is *locked* you can easily walk up and open the passenger door. Then, within about 10-15 seconds the alarm will go off.
2. 1 (one) tire (front left) is totally bald, but evenly bald. It looks like they just tossed one on just to sell it, scary but not too bad.
3. The exhaust sounds blown (somehow, it did not sound 1/5 as bad when I was in the wide open parking lot looking at it and driving it, but when I got it home, it was far worse.)

I am going to get it in to a mechanic that I TRUST this weekend I hope, just so he can take a look. I’m in Cleveland, Ohio and right around the corner is supposedly the best VW guy in town, although I’ve never worked with him. I’m going to steer clear of the dealer as much as possible.

I've been looking all day... lots of things are pointing to O2 Sensor (can't find that part online) and MAF Sensor...

Any ideas/comments?

Well the tires are easily replaced and the exhuast you would probably change out any way when you upgrade it to a 2.5 or 3 inch. The alarm is liveable if it costs too much to fix. The MAF sensor is really pretty cheap to replace (get a bigger MAF housing for better air flow) and Im sure the O2 isnt too bad either. This car sounds like a good car to take to a guy and have him look it over while he is upgrading your air flow parts and hoses (to get more HP) and downpipe, etc. Is the car chipped?

I don't know if it's chipped. How can I tell? I highly doubt it is, but I guess it's totally possible and would explain a lot.

Have your mechanic run a diagnostics of the car, it will hopefully let you know whats up with the lock/alarm situation. It may be as simple as making everything sync up correctly. Theres a weird little bug with the TT where occasionally the windows won't go up all the way, you gotta lock the car with the key, and then unlock it or something to that effect to fix it. Maybe its something similar to that. I'm also working on finding the coding to make the motion sensors more sensative. I'll keep you updated on that.

Ok, forgive some of my ignorance here:

My mechanic is awesome at what he does, but he works 2 jobs 6 days a week, so I just got it by there for a few minutes for him to connect to my OBD II and pull some codes. Like the guys here, he said to clean out the MAF right away as well as take it to just a normal exhaust place to get it looked at up on a lift.

There is a place around the corner from my house and I'm going to try and get in there at lunchtime today...

Anyway the codes are as follows:

1128 - no definition available
1136 - no definition available

**** His computer thingy is NOT a "vag-com" it is by "MAC TOOLS" and the model is ET9640****

P1128 = long term fuel trim, entire speed/load range, bank 1 - system too lean,

probable faults are = fuel pressure/pump, injector(s), intake/exhaust leak, AIR system, hose leak.

P1136 = the same as the above but idling problem

Thanks avant.. and everyone else for that matter you guys are right on the money...

I just got back from the Exhaust place: the "Front Manifold Flex Pipe" is broken. it's got a HUGE hole in it. The guy asked me if I hit something, and like a fool, I had to tell him "I dunno man, I just got it 3 days ago"

Audi wants $699 for the part... the guy said he'd make me one and install it for $499...

I'm gonna sell my Mac (spair computer) on e-bay and get it done next week. he said the O2 sensor and CAT are probably fine...
