Default Brake light not working. Anyone know possibly why?

I have a 2000 TT and my brake lights stopped working. Not sure why. When I turn on my headlights all the rear lights are lit up but when I hit my brakes it does not light up when I am stopping, just holds the running lights. I doubt all my brake lights high beam went out all together and my fuse is good. Has anyone had this problem before and if so how did you fix it? I only found my fuse box on the side of the dash on the driver side. Is there another fuse box anywhere else I can look for a fuse that might control the brake lights? Any help will be appreciated.

When i bought my TT i had the break pedal switch completely missing. I think they were also recalled. So check it out. It twists on to the top of your break pedal.
