Default Brother bought his 968

We drove to Dover, DE last weekend and trailered this car home thru shitty weather in PA. Made me nervous. It doesn't look like anything THAT special, but he paid almost twice what I paid for the TT, and this car is 7 years older. Its immaculate.
Has the MO30 package, so the suspension is already tuned probably as best as it can be, and I have to say the limited slip is nice. We recently had the blacktop sealed in the parking lot, and if theres any water there, he can get those tires smoking with just a touch of the throttle. Those are Ruf speedline rims, BTW, talk about expensive rims, Ruf only makes a few sets of rims a year. If anything ever happened to one of them, he might as well go shopping for new rims.
Turns out, swiss cheesing the airbox adds a ton of power, so he's up to 240ish in a 3100lb car. I hate to admit it, but he's got a faster car than me at this point, but we haven't had a chance to line them up, so he can bow to the quattro. We can't get too blatant with our racing (yet), considering the only plate he has on it right now is the plate I'm supposed to be using on the front of my car. That wouldn't go over well with the cops.

240 wheel or crank hp? 240bhp is easily seen in a TT which also weighs 3100lbs(225 model)

240 crank. I know I can beat him, but as the cars are, he's just a little faster. I need to do a couple little things this winter, and I'll definately beat him by spring.

Damn its a nice looking car though.

Don't see many 968's around. All I see are 911's. What I think your brother should have done is pick up an porsche 911 no newer than 1975 (about $10-$15k depends). That year making the car smog exempt (CA). You can throw any engine into it that you want. There is a place in LV that custom builds v8 small bloack to fit into Porsche's. They advertise that it will out perform any Ferrari on the street.

As for the body style of the older Porsches. You can actually take it to a person that knows how.. To convert the 911 to a 993 (Like the one in Bad Boys movie). We are talking about a complete conversion inside n out. IMHO the 993 looks alot nicer than the 968. There is a twin turbo body style that you can get done (basically it's wider than the regular 993).

Currently I am working on this same type of conversion.. Will be taking step by step pics of the process. And if I don't get banned from forums (for posting non Audi stuff), I'll post those pics here for you to see. Car should be done by no later than mid January.

He should have bought a crappy older 911 that is way more common and stuffed a chevy V8 into it? What? No way. Not only is the 968 beautiful and rare, it's an excelent road car and far more comfortable and modern than a '70's 911. And if he really wants big chevy power, Renegade Hybrids makes a LS engine swap for the 944/951/968 that adds no extra weight to the car. That's a far better plan than adding wieght behind the rear axel and plumbing an entire cooling system into a 911. I completed a 944/ 425hp LT-1 swap into a 944 for my brother, (when we bought the kit, an LS swap did not yet exist) and that beast honestly makes my Z06 feel lazy and sluggish. But that's really not necissary. The 968 has a strong 3.0 N/A 4 cylinder and needs no mods to be a great car. I'd just take great care of it and enjoy it stock. I say great buy on a great car. Any idiot car make payments on a G35, those that know, appriciate, and enjoy the rarer, more historic cars have my respect.

Well said. When it came time for me to buy a car I narrowed it down to a TT or 968. The 968 is such a wonderfully designed and laid out car and if you’ve ever seen one in person, they are beautiful. What made me choose the TT over the 968 was its availability. I really wanted a black on black 968 6 speed coupe with LSD in great shape. Trying to find that exact car is nearly impossible. I would have had to settle on color choices. Most 968s were cabrios, and a lot had the four speed tiptronic. I couldn’t live with either of those. Finding a black/silver 225 coupe was much easier. While I believe the 968 is a better and more pure sports car, I’m glad that I don’t have to deal with finding and paying for parts for a rare Porsche of that vintage. But I do still love the idea of owning a super rare Porsche.

I Have a 944 turbo and I love the 968. Nothing rarer than having the last front engine rear wheel drive porsche. If your brother really wants to make his 968 awsome make it a 968 turbo s or rs fastest production porsche turbo for 1993. Only 14 or so made it to the streets.
