It depends on how the machine has been taken care of and what work is done.

- Tires
(All completed with in the past 6 months) - 7k miles.
KBB says my car private party is worth $9600 or something.
I wont accept less than 12k for it. - If I were selling it. - You need to look at TT's as a car that will need work. - The timing job ALONE is worth $1300 to you. - Because you WILL do it.
-I basically have this car prepped to run perfectly for another 70K miles. - The only person who will pay what I'm asking is a person who has done there homework. - The average Joe would see the leather and laugh at me at the price, however the educated buyer would see a HUGE steal on there hands. - Because the car literally needs NOTHING.
- You need to educate yourself before you buy ANY TT. - I'm not saying they have problems. - But you need to find out what has and hasn't been done. - Find someone that has proper documentation. - Because you could end up finding yourself on a WILD ride. - These cars are expensive to maintain, and many people cant afford to maintain them. - What they couldn't do, you may find yourself doing.....

I haven't bought anything yet. I figured you guys would know what to look for and what to look-out for.
I'm gonna test drive it on saturday, and put the owner throught the ringer and see what I find out.

stupid things I didn't look into before buying mine:
windshield wipers being old vs new
drivers side height adjustment lever doesn't work
drivers side door latch wont register open (make sure interior lights come on and window drops 1/4in.
windows squeel like an SOB when going up and down
rips in leather seat
lines missing in center display
timing belt
oil change
tire wear

I just bought a 2001 with 62,000 on it. Had them do the timing belt right away; while inside they saw the cat needed replacing, also a valve. With the timing belt I got a new water pump with metal prop - important; the plastic props often break and wreak havoc.
That and sometimes instrumentation seem to be the things I hear about most. Otherwise if the car is clean and maintained I think you are getting a deal. Can you have your own mechanic come to the dealer and check it out?
