My CD Changer craps out when changing CD's and sends the message "Error 3" to the radio display.

 

the changers in these cars are crap. best you can hope for is ejecting the cartridge, and re-inserting it, but if its doing the error 3 thing constantly, theres little hope. Error 1 is a dirty/unreadable CD, 2 is a dirty laser lens, and 3 is what you get if somethings jammed/gummed up. You MIGHT get lucky if you took the whole thing out, split it open, cleaned and relubricated all the ways screws. Really don't think its worth it.

 

Mine does the number 3 thing when its cold. A lot.. thinking about moving the changer to the glove box? Or under passenger seat. (Better reason to reach between the ladies legs!! ) Can't really get to it where its at while driving!! Pisses me off!

 

ive gotten those errors before and they seem to happen only when i use colored blank CDs i burned on my mac. for some reason any "silver" CD works fine, but anything blue, red, etc. always craps out.

i usually manage to resolve it by ejecting the magazine, and re-inserting and letting it cycle thru the discs once.

 

What do you guys thnk a used changer should sell for? Since I'm doing the iphone thing, I'm gonna sell my changer.

 

I think they're only going for about 50-60 bucks on eBay. I was looking because my car came with the cd magazine missing. looks like around 20 for just the magazine or 60ish for the whole thing. I'm thinking I'll just forget it and rig up mp3.
