Default cheap & easy LEDs

$20 from superbrightleds.com and one hour install. Not as perfect as some, but looks great day/night and easy. Hopefully not too rice from the purists. Already enjoying my auto insurance discount for daytime running lights as they are switched with the ignition.

I prefer the stock look. Also, I don't think those are DOT approved. You may (rare chance though) get a fix it ticket for them.

I understand the stock preference, but please explain how I could get a ticket for them. New car manufacturers are required to be DOT, aftermarket also. Please show me a link for legal info/statute explaining your view. It would be much appreciated.

it's nice i like it, just kinda wish that the led strip covered the whole length of the lens. As for it being DOT approved. I don't think that the led's fall under that. As long as he still has his reflectors and yellow turn signals. I don't see where it would be a problem. Unless the guy pulling him over is a ^&*($#!^.

It's the same thing as non-dot approved fog lights. It's illegal to have any non-dot approved lights on (while on public roads), regardless if they are not required lighting. Look at the box of a set of yellow fog lights once.

A better example of what I mean, by being non-DOT approved would be those headlight washer leds or neon underglows. They are only extra lights, but still not approved.

Install is very easy, hence the post name. They friction fit, and on final install, I tacked them with a easily removable adhesive. The good thing is you can put them in and power off a battery while you decide how you want them mounted. I have mine wired as running lights.

i used those same flexible strip on my earlier projects for my A3
and it was good, but i wanted brighter and OEM like. I havent had issues from cops or CHPs and theyve gawked at it many times i kept my amber markers
