Default Check Engine light - 1128 MIL Code

Hi Guys, my first post here. My Check Engine light on my 2000 TT Quatro came on a few days ago. I read teh code as 1128 and cleared it the next time I dorve it, came back on same code. I can't seem to find what this is or what needs to be fixed. I have seen a couple of post about the O2 sensor. No other codes come up. Should I just go online and buy a new one? If so does this car only have one or??

Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks, that does help a little, but that does not tell me what would cause the code to throw.... too lean that could be injectors, Vacuum or ?? Has anyone had any experience with this code? Does the Bentley give you any troubleshooting suggestions?

Thanks
Jason

Do you know your engine code?

If not, give me your VIN and I can decode it for you and you'll know.

But here are the suggestions for the AWP engine (what I have)...

Exhaust system components removing and installing
Fuel injectors checking
Fuel pressure regulator and residual pressure checking
Fuel pump checking
Intake system for leaks (unmetered air) checking

Note
Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system components removing and installing (a possibility)

Here's the explanation of fuel trim and what you can do about it . . .

i really appreciate that post. i now somewhat understand what all this computer crap does. i have never owned computer cars. i am a true believer in carbs, lol. that really did help me understand what each sensor does though and now hopefully i can get this code to go away. one last question, after fixing this should i expect a significant increase in power or is the computer already fixing my problem and it will feel the same?

If your MAF is indeed bad, it will be robbing your car of power. Clearing the code and replacing the MAF will result in new power after the ECU adapts to the change. Good luck with this - keep us posted!
