Looking for help troubleshooting the cause of this code. Comes on about once a week.

 

Coolant temp sensor... Replace it!
If you have the black top sensor change it to a green one. If you have the blue one, you can replace it with another blue sensor. My TT has the blue sensor and I got it from a Ford dealership locally for about the same price you'll get it from ECS Tuning or any other online store. Just minus the shipping and you don't have to wait.
Make sure you replace the rubber O-ring. Also make sure the car is cold when you do the swap... No reason to get burned by hot G12.

 

I did the green top already about a year ago

 

Well check and make sure it hasn't come unplugged or loose before replacing it then.

 

I beleive it is unrelated to this sensor. Looking for other ideas, hopefully others of us have seen this code

 

The information I gave you is from the Robert Bentley Repair Manual specifically for the Audi TT. A credible source to say the least.

Is your car behaving in a way to lead you to believe it's not the coolant temp. sensor? Or are you under the impression that since you replaced it a year ago that you shouldn't be replacing it again? What makes you think it's unrelated?

Did you erase the code after you replaced the sensor a year ago?
A simple disconnection of the ground on you battery will clear the CELs on the ECU.
Just make sure you have the radio code to unlock it from "SAFE" mode.

 

ECS Tuning already sent me a replacement about a month after I did it initially. I clear the code weekly with my own code reader

 

Code reader deletes the code. Disconnecting the battery resets the ECU.
