Default Complete Audi Noob....

Hello, I just joined these forums to do a little more reasearch about the Audi TT as I am looking into getting a new car My poor 1995 Isuzu Rodeo has finally reached a point where I need to get rid of it! I love the look of the TT and the gas mileage, and I'm just ready for a nice, small, reliable sports car. So basically, I'm just posting to get some feedback on this car.... how long have you had it? How much maintetnace does it require? Are there any problems with specific years that I should know about? That sort of thing Sorry if this is too basic of a question to ask on these forums... you guys seem to be super hardcore car guys!

Thanks!
Melissa

reliable sports car.
lol.

lololololol.

Are there any problems with specific years that I should know about?
00-06 were problematic[>:]

Basically, if you're not inclined to either do your own work on the car or pay a lot of maintenance/random crap breaking fees, I wouldn't suggest buying one. If you're looking for a nice, small reliable sports car I'd suggest an S2000 or something along those lines.

haha well, if you get this car there will be some maintainence... then some more. Its not all that bad though, especially the perk of at the end of the day knowing you own a TT which is sweet...

my 02 hasnt had too many problems though and i have had it for about a year, just a crankshaft sensor.

i think its a great car and performs very well and also is a great daily driver...

read some of the FAQ at the top in the "stickies" and a lot of your questions will be answered as well

I have had almostperfect luck with my 01 TT quattro roadster. This is my first car at 17and I couldn't be happier. Aside from the glove box replacement, its been perfect. If the glove box costs 1000 dollars, what are other things going to cost? Oh well.

I would recommend the car overall for the performance and overall satisfaction, but I would not for long term maintance costs. Although mine was previously driven by a 60 year old woman school teacher (no offence to anyone), I still expect some maintaince cost. But like any car, as long as you don't beat it and take care of it, you shouldn't have too many problems. Its mis-use that will kill the car.

haha, thanks so much for the advice guys I'm definitely still doing alot of research on this car! Maybe it's not for me if there's so much maintenance... I had enough of that with an older car, so I really want something that will just be fun to drive and easy. But that's probably asking too much... lol Thanks again!

Eh, don't let these boys turn you away!

As with any used car it depends on how the previous owner treated the car. There are certainly some TTs that have more problems than others.
A little preventative maintenance, and upkeep should be done for any car; so there's no real difference there.
Parts do cost more, and that something you should consider before purchasing.

Honestly, any problems that my car has had I've brought on myself through modifications.
With the exception of a parking light bulb.
